Has anyone heard of Global Shares Ltd. They sell a stock market trading package for non-traders?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

This company offers a software package that helps you manage a portfolio of shares without any previous experience. Suggests you should make 20k per year by following simple rules?

My partner and I use the Global Shares end of day system. I’m guessing that’s the one for non-traders as it’s quite straight forward.

The couple that introduced us to them have been doing well for quite a while and now use a more advanced system from the same outfit.

I like the one we use for the reason you mention – the rules to follow are very simple. I’m by no means a market guru but to answer your question, from our own experience 20k per year is a realistic figure. Now were established though we intend on increasing that figure over the coming years as we close in on retirement.

Our friends use it as their primary income so I think that once we have a little more time and knowledge we may move into the more serious one.

Hope this helps,

Jackie Marsh

Can anybody share his/her experience in trading stocks or combinations stocks and options as a best strategy?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I am not greedy. I would be perfectly happy with 3%/ month.

Stick with companies you know, you believe in what their product or service is, know what they are doing now, have a general idea of what they will be doing in the future. Plan to hold at least a yr (i think its a yr, right now) for less capital gains tax to pay if you come out ahead. I used a hot stock tip in a company that i didnt know or understand and it went under while i still had the stock because i didnt know when to sell. For example, the companies I have stock in are disney, mcdonalds, wild oats, dean foods, mattle, playboy, rite aid, playtex and sirus. i dont own a lot of shares in each but i enjoy investing and keeping up on them. I would recommend TD Ameritrade for a good online trading company, its easy to use and each trade is only like, $8.

How soon after purchase may I sell stock shares and avoid penalty for selling too soon?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I bought some stock shares and then, a couple of weeks later, realized what I wanted my long-term stock-trading strategy to be, and this stock does not fit my strategy. I bought the shares in August, and it is now October. How soon can I sell these shares without incurring the tax penalty for selling them too quickly? Do I have to hold them for a year, or is 45 days all that is required, or a different length of time?

There is no penalty for selling "too soon". There is a tax break for long term gains, and you won’t get this. However, one sure way to lose money is to worry more about the taxes than the actual investments. If you don’t want it, sell it.

Do you think getting success in stocks ( shares ) depends on luck , Intelligence , Insider trading?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

your manipulative capabilities or something else ? People make tall claims about fundamental analysis , Technical analysis , their ability to enter and exit stocks at correct time but my view is success in stocks is mainly due to luck and in some countries ( like India)due to rampant insider trading. What is your view ?
Edit – my view is one should be able to take away emotional component while trading in shares and take only rational view. Not to fall in love with your stocks. Exit with losses if required. Most importantly not to invest more than certain fixed percentage of your liquid assest in stocks. And lastly one should be contended with what returns one has got and be patient.

ma’am pinki ,,,

i will tell you my story ,,,form my real life experiences,,,,,

by adopting technical analysis,,,insider trading,,fundamental analysis,,,market timing ,,,patience,,,entry exit timings etc etc is pure bullshit ,,,served daily to the people ,,,,by the business channels and analysts,,,,,

i only learn from people who have already reached the mountain peak,,,,,,hence i only listen to warren buffett [ the most successful shares investor in the earths history]

i wasted 7 years watching cnbc ,,,,and didn’t learn much ,,,except crap,,,from some brokers and analysts ,,who themselves are broke financially investing in stocks,,,,,and they are advising people on television,,,,

i suggest you read ,,,,books on warren buffett ,,,because he is the only investor in the world who has made billions of dollars in trading shares,,,,,he is the second or third richest man in the world ,,,just by investing in stocks ,,,,

now its up to you ,,,whom do you want to listen ,,,,,warren buffet or the financially broke analysts,,,,

i suggest you read the following books ,,,

1] the warren buffet way [ by robert haegstorm ]

2]buffetology [ by mary buffett ,,his ex daughter in law ]

very nice books ,,,

they changed my whole way of thinking ,,,,,,

buffett invests in stocks ,,,by having only a business perspective in mind,,,,,,he only looks a business of a company ,,,,,and whether its price is moderately priced ,,,,he dosent buy good companies at very high prices,,,,

i like buffets example on buisness perspective investing ,,,,,

example Gillette company ,,,buffett said ,,,mens hair will never stop growing ,,,hence Gillette will never run out of business,,,,,so he invested it in long term ,,,,,,

in one sentence ,,,,buffett only looks at a buisness side ,,,and not technical analysis,,,and he SELLS ONLY WHEN HE SEES A PROFIT ON HIS ORIGINAL INVESTMENT,,,AND THEN REINVESTS IN THE SAME STOCK AT LOWER LEVELS,,,

finally i urge you to read those books ,,,and you will start to think like warren buffet,,,,and you may end up making money like him

good luck in your endeavor
